Community Expectations
Nyland works because everyone takes part. Here's what that looks like.
The Commitment
Core Commitments
Members must identify as a Community Member and participate actively. Members must follow community agreements and processes for decisions affecting shared spaces and commit to resolving disputes collaboratively.
Participation
Participation involves approximately 2.5 hours weekly through Community Action Group (CAG) involvement. Specific annual requirements include:
- Attend 3 annual land workdays
- 2 kitchen cleaning sessions
- 4 community meetings yearly
- Join at least one CAG with roughly 4 hours monthly commitment
Getting Involved Before Joining
Attend community meals, join workdays, and observe meetings before deciding to join.
- Attend a Sunday community dinner
- Join a Land Care workday
- Observe a community meeting
